Manual for replacing a timing belt coupling

For replacing a timing belt or guide slide, it is best to follow the Hörmann instructions. The latches A8 x 19.5 x 16 with SL lock shown in Figure 1B.1 under E are not included in the delivery. However, you can use the bolts used to attach the gate carrier to the carrier bracket and the guide slide.

Pro-tip!

After replacing the timing belt coupling according to the manual, you should actually first mount the drive pulley bracket and then place the timing belt back into the timing belt coupling. Our experience is that this can be quite difficult. Therefore, our recommendation: After you have placed the timing belt in the drive pulley holder (Figure 3.1), first install the timing belt in the coupling (Figures 3.5 and 3.6). The drive pulley holder slides slightly into the rail due to the belt tension. Now place a piece of wood at the end of the rail, clamp the drive pulley holder against it with a screw clamp until the screw holes are aligned again, and then screw the holder back on tightly (Figure 3.3). Proceed to Figure 4. These products are generally distinguished by a long service life and high-quality finish. The timing belt coupling is also designed for uncomplicated use and saves time when replacing it. The spare part is suitable, for example, for the self-supporting steel rails FS 3. The timing belt in these rails consists of a mixture of polyester and polyamide, while the guide carriage for guide rails FS 10 and FS 2 itself consists of robust plastic. The special feature of this timing belt: it tensions itself and is therefore maintenance-free. The guide rails are usually pre-assembled and can be used directly on the desired drive. The rails themselves are offered in single or double units. For installation, the two-part rails must be screwed together and the timing belt tensioned.
