Comfort 220 / 250 / 252
The (older) generation of Marantec Multi-Bit transmitters
Digital 101 / 102 / 104 / 121 / 122 / 124
This 27MHz (Dip10) transmitters are no longer available, and there are no alternatives. We recommend using the Marantec Digital 993 Conversion Kit incl. 1 Remote Control. Plug this receiver into the same socket as the motor and connect the two wires to terminals 1 and 2 on the motor. It takes only 5 minutes to install and is extremely secure with bi-linked protection.
Digital 211 / 212 / 214 / 221 / 222 / 224 / 231 / 232
This generation of transmitters was supplied in 433 MHz. The three holes for transferring the code differ from the three holes in the later 3xx series transmitters. If you wish to transfer the code, you must use the Old-New Coding Adapter.
Digital 301 / 302 / 304 / 313 / 317 / 321 / 323
Starting with this series, Marantec began supplying transmitters in two different frequencies. The 433MHz transmitters have the same color (light gray) on both the front and back, while the pushbuttons are anthracite. The 868MHz transmitters are recognizable by a light gray front and an anthracite back, matching the color of the pushbuttons. The frequency is engraved on the back next to the model number. These transmitters are supplied with the 3-prong programming pins as standard.
Digital 382 / 384 / 392
Starting with this series, the transmitter no longer features a connector on the printed circuit board to transfer the code. For cost reasons, three contact strips have been added to the printed circuit board, along which the 3-prong programming pins slide to make contact. BUT... the printed circuit board has a clear coating to protect against corrosion and moisture. This means that the pins will only make contact if they are slid in and out of the printed circuit board a few times to "scratch through the clear coating." Also, DO NOT push the pins too far into the transmitter, as this will cause them to bend and prevent them from making contact.
Digital 506 / 562 / 564 / 572 / 633 / 663
Digital 5xx and 6xx series are NOT MULTI-BIT transmitters, but Bi-Linked transmitters. These also operate on 868MHz, but this is a rolling code that communicates bidirectionally. These can only be learned directly onto the motor and cannot transfer a code like Multi-Bit transmitters.

Some time ago, panic broke out among owners of automated gates in Belgium. A story was published in the media claiming a burglary had occurred through unauthorized interception of a remote control signal. This signal was recorded using a scanner (a recording device) while the users were operating their garage doors, unaware of the incident. The burglars then returned later and allegedly used the copied signal to secretly open the gate.
For users of Marantec openers who have doubts about the security of their system, we can inform you of the following:
Systems that do not use a rolling code (such as the older Marantec Multi-bit) are vulnerable to this form of abuse. Please note that the chance of an illegal attempt being successful is minimal, but never ruled out. When you use the Marantec Bi-Linked system, a thief can no longer easily intercept the code because it rotates repeatedly.
What does this mean for existing openers?

Marantec Comfort 280
Marantec Comfort 360

Do you have the above-mentioned gate automation with a software version from (= equal to or higher) than 'R10'?
(Remove the cover and you will see a white sticker with an R-code on the left side of the 'control box')
You can then use bi-linked transmitters with the existing modular receiver, provided it is a Marantec Digital 921. A factory reset erases all existing settings and transmitters, after which you will have to set everything up again. Then program the bi-linked transmitters such as the Marantec Command 572 as described in the manual.
Do you have a gate opener mentioned above with a software version older (= lower) than 'R10'?
Then you can disable your existing remote transmitters by erasing the code from their memory (see the opener's manual). You can then purchase a universal or plug-in receiver that is suitable for bi-linked transmitters. Connect this receiver (Marantec Command 993) to the pushbutton connection (contacts 1 & 2). You will then need to reprogram new remote controls, such as the Marantec Digital 572, to the opener.
Do you have a Comfort 220, 250, or 252?
If you have an older opener, such as the Comfort 220.2, 250.2, or 252.2, with a modular antenna, you can replace this antenna with a Marantec Digital 992 868MHz Bi-Linked antenna. This antenna is suitable for use with the most secure Bi-Linked (manual) transmitters.
